Fresh Perspective
We all find ourselves, from time to time, needing to look at things differently, find a our answers from a differently point of view. We need to find a way to see our world or our life from a different vantage point. If we break away from “normal”, and throw off our routines, a “Fresh Perspective” may emerge. Wherever your journey takes you, find a moment and just look up. Kneel down and "see" from a child’s point of view. Climb to the top of a building and look down on the world below, or out at a distant vista. Then… wait. Breathe. Be patient. Watch. Something special and unexpected may pass by. Often fleeting, so you’ll have to be poised and ready. “Fresh Perspective” might be just a flash of a moment, and yet, have the power to change you forever. Here, I'm laying flat on my back in the woods looking up at these amazing pines. Then I see, at the convergence of the lines, the birds. I chose to shoot this in infrared because of the very different way it sees the world. This piece can always remind you to stop for a minute and see things differently.

Infrared photography captures light that is outside of what you and I see naturally. It is most intense when seen in full and bright sunny days with lots of foliage. Living flora most often records in bright white tones giving grass, trees and shrubs a dream-like quality. For all of my work, I only print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic paper, one of the most exquisite and expensive in the world. The metallic particles embedded in the coating of the paper, along with it’s remarkable yet subtle texture, gives the print a shimmering dimensionality that is almost magical.
